Computing 2
This course is designed for people who have some knowledge of computers and wish to extend this knowledge. Topics will include:
- Different types of operating systems (We will be using Windows XP).
- Understanding some simple computer jargon (eg. Size of hard drives, memory).
- Organising files and icons on desktop.
- Using formulae and sorting data in Excel.
- Upgrading computers- installing larger hard drives.
- Installing old files on a new computer.
- Installing new hardware and software.
- Home networking.
- Linking a digital camera to your computer.
- Suggestions from the class, i.e. problems they may be having.
Prerequisites:
Computer confidence or the completion of an introductory computing course (such as Computing 1). General typing skills would be helpful (2-finger typing would be sufficient). There is no requirement for students to own a computer. However, access to a computer to practice on would be helpful.
