Microsoft PowerPoint-getting started

Who should attend?  Those with little knowledge of PowerPoint and those who are self taught and wish to produce professional electronic presentations.

Prerequisite:  It is expected that participants will be familiar with the basic operating systems, and basic windows operations such as selecting a program, opening and closing files and saving files.

Resources:  As part of the course, you will be asked to bring with you a USB (thumb drive) to save your work onto.

Outcomes:  This Course is designed to introduce students to Microsoft PowerPoint.  The Course will allow students to –

       Understand and utilise the new PowerPoint 2007 interface

       Use the Office Button menu commands

       Utilise the Ribbon(s); Contextual Tabs, Tabs, Groups, Dialogue windows

       Familiarise oneself with the Galleries, Live Preview; Mini Toolbar and Quick Access Toolbar

       Create a presentation

       Use bullet lists

        Format text

        Insert pictures and Use SmartArt graphics

        Add tables and charts

        Apply the different views

        Be familiar with the different File formats to save a presentation

        Run a slide show and apply transitions and animation effects

       Acquaint oneself with the various Print options

        Use the spell checker
